4TH OF JULY PARADE UPDATE (CANDY AND HPLA MERCHANDISE)

Joe stated the parade will take place on July 4, 2024.  Jay Ingram has graciously agreed to let us decorate his boat for the parade.  We will meet at 9:00 am on Water Street to get the boat ready for the parade.

Joe stated he had been in contact with Family Dollar about purchasing candy from them, but we would not get a price break and only buy what was on their shelves.  Joe stated he is going to buy the candy from Sam’s Club.

The HPLA requested Sigi’s children once again assist in helping to throw out candy during the parade.  The general consensus in addition to throwing out candy, we also throw some of our older merchandise - can cozi’s; stickers; buttons; and old T-shirts to parade goers.

Joe stated our raffle ticket sales are going good.  All tickets are out, with about half of the tickets sold.  There are only 300 tickets total.  The first place prize is $1,000.00.  Sue asked that the money collected be brought to her before the end of June, 2024.

It was stated there are 423 facebook followers.

ADDITIONAL TOPICS NOT PREVIOUSLY ADDRESSED:

Mike Mittelstedt, Sportsmen’s Club Representative, stated he purchased four (4) tree guards for the trees which were planted along the Harris Pond shoreline in an effort to protect them from various factors. It was the general consensus to reimburse Mike for the tree guards.

A question was asked about when the Sportsmen’s Club was formed.

Answered:  It was formed in 1982 and there are about 80/90 members.  All activities they do are for the town of Harris community.

A question was asked about getting more members to join the HPLA.

Several in the audience suggested writing letters to people that live on the lake; write up a list of accomplishments the HPLA has done the last eighteen (18) years; have zoom available for meetings for those that are unable to attend in person; find out what can be done about the lake muck.  All good suggestions.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING:

The next meeting will be our Annual Membership Meeting to be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, beginning at 12:30 pm with raffle drawing conducted at 1:30 pm. The meeting will be held at Lange Park Pavilion (Water Street) except in the event of inclement weather, it will be moved to the Firehouse Community Room.
