PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Joe stated we have been a Lake Association for 17+ years.
Joe stated we have been involved in many projects through the years; completing a comprehensive Lake Study by Onterra LLC; conducting additional sediment & weed studies; installing a new dock at the boat landing; repairing the boat landing; painting Lange Park Pavilion; donating money to the Sportsmen’s Club for needed repairs to Lange Park Pavilion; planting four (4) trees along the shoreline of Harris Pond; hosting numerous bake sales and flower sales; hosting a rummage sale; participating in the annual 4th of July parades; and conducting an annual cash raffle where the 1st prize was $1,000.00 cash, and so on.
We realize as an organization we do not have enough resources that a lake this size requires. The main issue still facing Harris Pond is the amount of sediment within the lake, with the only solution being a drawdown. This solution remains unacceptable to us and our community.
Joe asked each board member whether they wanted to keep going as a Lake Association or consider disbanding. Each board member when asked, said to disband.
It was then motioned by Mike Mittelstedt, and seconded by Dave Kappel, “to unanimously agree to a dissolution of Harris Pond Lake Association.” The Motion was carried.
Joe stated we needed to decide how best to disburse the money that is in our checking account.
It was motioned by Dave Kappel and seconded by Bill Jansen, “to refund the three (3) newest members the $25.00 dues fee.” Motion carried.
It was motioned by Bill Jansen and seconded by Mike Mittelstedt, “to look into purchasing a new pier”. Motion carried.
The Board members agreed to disburse the remaining funds among the following groups:
Marquette County Lakes Association - $1,000.00
Sportsmen’s Club - $1,000.00
New pier from Piers Plus - $8,177.00
Town of Harris - $9,602.13
An email will be sent to all members about the dissolution.
